Brian interviews Green Party candidate in Mississauga Center, Craig Laferrière, as part of his continuing profiling of different candidates from various parties. Last week a Liberal, tomorrow a Tory and Wednesday an NDP.
Craig Laferrière is bilingual, has a PhD in chemistry and has lived in Mississauga since 2002. He was a volunteer teacher with Canadian University Services Overseas (CUSO) in Ghana, West Africa and his career was in vaccine research and development and started with the National Laboratory for Immunology and STDs and then the National Research Council in Ottawa and then GlaxoSmithKline in Rixensart, Belgium.
He lectured in chemistry at the University of Toronto and was also involved in the community in Mississauga as the vice-chair of the Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee, chair of Springfield Public School Council and chair of the Finance and Property Committee at Erindale United Church. He worked at Pfizer Canada from 2011 to 2018 on the vaccine Leadership Team, but after a brief retirement, returned to work on the COVID pandemic, and he is currently the consulting Head of Vaccine Development at Novateur Ventures Inc. He has over 20 peer-reviewed scientific publications and patents and numerous public presentations on vaccines.
