Foundations for Social Change launched a bold social research program, the New Leaf project, in which direct cash transfers were provided to individuals, to empower them to move beyond homelessness, with:

Claire Elizabeth Williams, Co-Founder and CEO. She was recently placed on the 21 Founders-To-Watch, founded Foundations for Social Change and has raised the funds for their program. BA Environmental Studies and Economics and Master of Planning.

Dr. Jiaying Zhao is Associate Professor of Psychology at UBC’s Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability. Dr. Zhao aims to use psychological principles to design behavioral solutions to address sustainability challenges. Dr. Zhao is currently examining the cognitive causes and consequences of scarcity, and what behavioral interventions improve the performance in low-income individuals.

Foundations for Social Change is a Vancouver-based charitable organization that develops innovative programs helping vulnerable populations in our communities. They seek solutions to ongoing social issues, such as homelessness, with a bold entrepreneurial mindset using data and evidence to evaluate their work and measure impact. They stand for an inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
the New Leaf project, in which direct cash transfers were provided to individuals, to empower them to move beyond homelessness. They believe we need to go beyond managing the homelessness crisis through the provision of emergency services such as shelters and meal programs, and look at interventions that can lead to long-term, sustainable change.
