Romans 12:11
Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.
Do you know you can live as a shining light (living to your potentials) and not be a burning light (reflecting the God of your potentials)?
In other words, as a Christian, you shouldn't live by doing without really being. Yes! Faking it to make it is not the way to live - we become first then, we do.
When you accepted Christ, you became a new creature (His image), then you embarked on a lifelong journey of becoming ( His nature) so others can recognize Him in us (His likeness).
It is not enough to have the zeal, it has to be in alignment with the Spirit of God. He must be evident in your being and living for you to be a shining and a burning light.
Philippians 2:15
That you may show yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish (faultless, unrebukable) in the midst of a crooked and wicked generation [spiritually perverted and perverse], among whom you are seen as bright lights (stars or beacons shining out clearly) in the [dark] world.
Being a bright light attracts. It attracts all kinds and has no capacity of sieving. Light does captivate, it is one of its characteristics.
However, to keep being a beacon that shines clearly, you have to burn. There has to be a revelation of who you carry when you are experienced. The radiation from you should be of your essence and should burn through shafts.
Matthew 3:11-12
I indeed baptize you in (with) water because of repentance [that is, because of your changing your minds for the better, heartily amending your ways, with abhorrence of your past sins]. But He Who is coming after me is mightier than I, Whose sandals I am not worthy or fit to take off or carry; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
His winnowing fan (shovel, fork) is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear out and clean His threshing floor and gather and store His wheat in His barn, but the chaff He will burn up with fire that cannot be put out.
The Holy Spirit in you gives you the capacity to be a shining and a burning light because He is. He isn't just in you to make you a pace setter, He is also in you to prune you, removing every thing that isn't of Him, making you fit in every sense.
I conclude with this testimony of John:
John 5:35
John was the lamp that kept on burning and shining [to show you the way], and you were willing for a while to delight (sun) yourselves in his light.
I pray you live truly as a burning and shining light all the days of your life in Jesus name, amen.
