Carla M. Dean was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, better known as the Steel City. Her love for books started when she was a child and stayed with her into her adult years. In 2001, feeling unsatisfied and unappreciated as a clerk typist for the City of Pittsburgh, she took a step out on faith and launched her editing company, U Can Mark My Word Editorial and Typesetting Services, which she still manages today. Although she has a passion for enhancing authors’ manuscripts, she never imagined writing a book of her own. However, after receiving positive feedback regarding the quotes she would post online, she decided to compile them into a book, which she titled Inside My Mind: Axioms for Life. Her hope is that the words birthed from the faith-shaking experiences she endured will help motive and inspire others. With a desire to help other authors achieve their goal of becoming published, she launched Artistic Words Publishing, LLCC.

A football fanatic and an avid Steelers fan, she currently resides in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, with her daughter, Aroya, and is working hard to expand her editing, t-shirt, and publishing businesses
