Trump and this Muslim not Muslim Ban (My Two Cents)
I'm still mad but i get it now. I now see how Trump got elected.
The common sentiment and (I'm not saying this is MINE) is that media has GOT to be blowing this out of proportion. I was eavesdropping on a group of concerned (i'm assuming) Americans. While fuming at Trump, I could ALMOST see their side. A lot of it made sense; When looking around ALL of the Beverly Hills, Bel Air, and all of Orange County here in California, and ALL of the 'good' neighborhoods, all one sees is foreign folks - or one generation removed. Not white. Not black. Foreign.

Their point was that everyone should start fighting for their OWN country. 'Regular' Americans are treated pretty crazily.

Men should stay and fight for their countries and build them up and stop fleeing with the women and children and expecting America to fight their battles.

The one Black person in the group said that the protests on this Muslim not Muslim ban are enormous but when Black folks are shot down point blank in the streets only Black are out protesting and of course the perpetrators are rarely held accountable.

Someone was whispering that while America is taking in refugees, we had 50k homeless VETERANS in America in 2014. I was like whaaaat? I quickly googled the fact and there it was, 49,933 identified homeless vets in January 2014. I go to DC several times a year and I was surprised as I always am that the streets of our Nation's Capital are covered with HOMELESS - and RATS but that's another issue.

Ironically, I had CNN alerts on when all hell broke loose over the weekend regarding Donald Trump signing the executive order. The media focused on the horror stories and paraded a number of children in front of the cameras. I am normally very quick to tear up when I see anything affecting kids but I was surprised when my overwhelming thought was how nice the housing was for the refugees. It was nothing like the super dome homeless Americans had to stay in when the Levies broke in New Orleans.

I get it somewhat now. I understand how Trump got elected. America (especially white America) is sick of the U.S. giving hand-outs to people who are down and out from other countries while there are still people losing jobs and homes. Free education to top American schools is given while many American citizens cannot afford to send their own kids to college. Healthcare is readily available to everyone except those mostly American who hold jobs and must pay for it themselves.

Too bad President Trump is so abrasive and petty because it definitely makes him an easy target for the media. If he were able to articulate himself better to the media, and recognize those around him who are hate mongerers, maybe there could be a way to help the disenfranchised while also not hurting those who were born here. #mytwocents
