Spring Training here in 2019 is almost upon the Philadelphia Phillies! This is a new, better team heading into the season, and we'll be discussing a ton of pitching, hitting and more this week on the show. Matt Veasey (@MatthewVeasey) from PhilliesNation.com joined us to discuss a plethora of storylines as pitchers and catchers have reported down at Clearwater! It was a great discussion you won't want to miss.
Plus, this week's show by diving into the world of sports betting with professional bettor Joe Falchetti from SafestBettingSites.com. (2:40)
From there we got into a lively discussion about the Sixers vs. Celtics game from this past week, and whether or not the Los Angeles Lakers might have been tampering with Ben Simmons. (13:05)
We also dove into the Flyers organization at this point in the season, and how GM Chuck Fletcher appears to be making moves slowly but surely to reinvent this team. (21:45)
This week on the Highbrow Segment, we got into a discussion about the economic realities of sports fans deciding not to watch sports in person, at stadiums these days. How will this impact the sports world in the future? (29:40)
On the Lowbrow Segment, we've got another list for you! We gave our top-3 worst athletes music albums and songs of all-time. A real fun discussion! (39:40)
What we're throwing down on the Table this week is a fantastic interview with Matt Veasey from Phillies Nation. We first discussed with Matt the situation involving Gabe Kapler during his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers. From there, we dove right into the coming baseball season, and how much we expect this Phillies team to improve defensively. Then we talked about the improvements that Odubel Herrera will need to make this coming season to get back to his 2016 self. What can we expect from pitchers Nick Pivetta and Jake Arrieta here in 2019? And can this offseason be considered a success even if the Phillies don't acquire Harper or Machado? All of this and much more this week on the Table! (1:01:15)
