Alastair Ager was mostly interested in the localization agenda at the #WHSummit and discussing potentially new ways of doing business. Local and faith-based organizations may face perceptions of partiality or a lack of neutrality that may limit their access to funding or engagement in humanitarian action. To better engage local actors moving forward, humanitarian coordination needs to ensure that international aid and actors complement the capacities and resources already available on the ground.
PHAP members and others share their thoughts on the World Humanitarian Summit process in Istanbul, 22-24 May 2016.The association is present in Istanbul to help amplify practitioner voices and bring clarity to the Summit process for those unable to participate on-site.
PHAP is the individual-based professional association bringing together all parts of the humanitarian sector. With a shared vision that human life and dignity are safeguarded in the face of humanitarian crises, the association’s mission is to empower capable and informed professionals to transform humanitarian action.
