I won a nice PerfBytes StopWatch in Boston last fall. Already used it multiple times. Never realized I was missing such a fine tool before 😉

I think Mark is on the money, I saw a few tools, I was frustrated, then I took a intro course from Mark and some of the base ideas he spoke about helped, but you still need time to apply learning and make mistakes to be able to really build a Performance 'experience'. IMO

I once didn't have a good clock or a watch, so I timed how long a long running operation took, by seeing how many games of solitaire I could complete before it was done. (Hint if that number is > 1 its too slow.)

I remember learning from reading tutorials and pdfs for JMeter and YSlow, and realizing there was a lot to it.

What's fun is when you browser a website, for news say about sports, and you like the pic they use in a thumbnail and you go to save it and find not only is it several megabytes in size, but not scaled down to a thumbnail either.

I think the problem, Jean, in this case wasn't candidate sites, it was local county, state party sites (which are not as well funded), and in some cases state secretary of state offices crashing as more than local people are trying to peak from around the country. Can't remember which primary I saw that happened,

Hi guys! Political campaigns have strict bugets so they get people to help that might not know what they're doing. Thus these problems might be avoidable and easily so. The key would be to get the right skilled sets involved with the campaign. Probably not enough people are involved.

Would vendors be able to better connect with their user/clients if they had more people writing and sharing knowledge of examples of use publicly?

I would say that tools add value prorportional to the skill and environment in which they are deployed and leveraged.

Funny how Teams Penske and Ganasi have the same Cars roughly as a lot of others in the field, and they still manage to be near the top of the grid every single race.

Well then there's the Ryan Hunter Rey problem. Great driver, ride lacking in horsepower, and has to take risks to keep up with the pack. (but doing so better than people with similar situations.)
