Part of this phenomenon seems to be an effect of the post-You Tube and social media Internet. I remember the early days of the Internet and chat boards when you could actually speak with academicians, or reporters, or maybe even someone like Ed... when the Internet was viewed as this phenomenal information and information-sharing tool.
