21 organisations have signed a pledge to be more transparent about their use of animals in research, testing and teaching.
The signatories have promised to be more open about why and how they use animals; and include all our major universities, AgResearch and AstraZeneca.
There was public outcry earlier this year when it was revealed that more than 130,000 animals that were bred for RTT in 2019 were killed without being used.
Microbiologist and animal researcher Siouxsie Wiles was heavily involved with getting this agreement off the ground and she joined Heather du Plessis-Allan to chat about why transparency is so important.
