New research out this week shows that children who fidget are more likely to have a healthier body weight.
The Australian and Scottish co-study builds on previous research which has shown the same in adults as well as being a great reliever of stress.
They have found that fidgeting burns up to 3kg of body weight every year.
Researchers also think that fidgeting is an unconscious self-regulation mechanism that varies depending on what is required - whether its regulating attention, weight or stress.
Nanogirl Michelle Dickinson joined Andrew Dickens to discuss what the research means for us.
