The Warehouse by Rob Hart. Set in a time where gun violence, climate change and unemployment have changed the US beyond recognition. You could make some assumptions reading this that it’s based on the culture of a place like Amazon –  it’s a huge global corporate called Cloud, where workers are forced into live-in accommodation, and everything they say and do is monitored. It brands itself as not only an online storefront, but as a global saviour, but there are very sinister forces at work. Scarily plausible these days.
Chaos : Charles Manson, the CIA and the Secret History of the 60’s by Tom O’Neill. Title says it all really – this book and its subject became a complete obsession for the author who has taken 20 years to write it. Interesting take on what went on back then, looking at the prosecution of Manson, allegations of witness tampering, the leniency with which Manson was treated by the judiciary and the whole weird thing that was the 60’s in California
