On this episode of Rightly Dividing, we are waging into a biblical 'hot spot', one that is sure to aggravate just as many people as it will bless, to see if we can discern for ourselves if God not only approves of drinking alcoholic wine, but would He Himself create it for us to drink? Think long and hard before you answer that one, it's a loaded question to say the least. Please note that we will not be pushing the "party line" of any denomination, this study is not simply to recite Baptist man-made "standards", we wouldn't do that to you. This is a Bible study, comparing scripture with scripture, so you can see for yourself what the truth of the matter is. The Bible clearly has a lot to say about alcoholic wine, mentioned in dozens of passages, and has a lot to say about the unfermented 'new wine', which contains zero alcohol. In fact, from the Old Testament to the New, God shows us an excellent comparison of those two types of wine, and then tells us what we can expect after drinking either one of them. One of the most-consistent arguments among Christians is whether or not Jesus created fermented wine containing alcohol when He performed the miracle at the wedding in Cana. The short answer is 'absolutely not', that wine was the 'pure blood of the grape'. But short answers, while informative, are rarely satisfying as they do not address the larger question.
