show moreThroughout the history of software engineering, the tools, languages, and frameworks have changed drastically. However, what has not changed, as proposed by Lukas, is that programming can be distilled to four first-principles: nouns, verbs, iterators, and conditionals. Taking this one step further, Lukas teaches about what he refers to as the "axis of evil", which is when it is too painful to write tests for your code. The panelists and Lukas talk about what it means to write good code, and how this varies based on the context of good code.
To wrap things up, Lukas and the panelists talk about investing in ourselves and the people with whom we interact, in our organizations and the community. It's important that we take the long game to software engineering and prioritize our own mental health and our relationships.
