Take-aways:
-Educate yourself on your options
-A birth doula provides continuous 1-on-1 birth support for you in every way other than medical
-Are you in a fear cycle or a safety cycle? When you’re feeling afraid, your body releases hormones that fight against labor, which causes more difficulty in labor, which can then generate more fear. When you’re feeling safe, your body releases hormones that help you feel calm, so your labor progresses more easily, and you can feel more secure in what you are doing
-3 pillars of confidence: womanly wisdom, self-advocacy, and surrender. It is critical to have all 3
-A birth plan is a communication, education, and organization tool
-Think about pain in labor as discomfort and communication
