#JonKlassen - Kaylee, Felix and Miani chat with multi-award winning author/illustrator Jon Klassen. Jon lives in Los Angeles now, though he was born in Winnipeg in Canada and grew up in Niagara Falls and Toronto in Ontario. Jon’s book ‘I Want My Hat Back’ was named a Theodor Seuss Geisel Honor Book, a New York Times Book Review Best Illustrated Children's Book of the Year, a Publishers Weekly Best Children's Book of the Year, and the winner of the E. B. White Read-Aloud Award in the picture book category. This Is Not My Hat won the Caldecott Medal and Kate Greenaway Medal, was designated a New York Times Notable Children’s Book, received six starred reviews, and was named on Best of the Year lists by Publishers Weekly, Amazon.com, School Library Journal, and Apartment Therapy, among many other awards!
But wait... there’s more! Jon is also the illustrator of two Caldecott Honor books: Extra Yarn and Sam and Dave Dig a Hole, written by Mac Barnett, as well as House Held Up by Trees, written by Ted Kooser, and named a New York Times Best Illustrated Book of the Year. And Jon also animates for film including working on Kung Fu Panda and Coraline and he was the director of the 2009 animated music video of I’ll go crazy if I don’t go crazy tonight by by U2... wow!
