Rudolf Hess was a German politician and leading member of the Nazi Party during World War II. He served as Adolf Hitler's deputy in the Nazi Party and was considered one of his closest confidants. In 1923, Hess played a key role in the Beer Hall Putsch, a failed attempt by Hitler to seize power in Munich. He was arrested and sentenced to 18 months in prison. After his release, Hess quickly rose through the ranks of the Nazi Party and became a close advisor to Hitler. He was appointed Deputy Führer in 1933 and played a key role in the consolidation of Nazi power in Germany. He was also a key architect of the Nuremberg Laws, which stripped Jews and other minorities of their civil rights. In 1941, Hess made a surprise solo flight to Scotland in an attempt to negotiate a peace treaty with the United Kingdom. He was arrested upon landing and spent the rest of the war in British custody. After the war, Hess was put on trial at the Nuremberg Trials and was convicted of crimes against peace, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. He was sentenced to life in prison and died in Spandau Prison in 1987. #biographychannel #rudolfhess #hessrudolf
