Mount Sinai of the Old Testament and Mount Zion of the New Testament. Mount Sinai was unapproachable. This is the place that the Ten Commandments were delivered to Moses. With the smoke and fire like a furnace, and lightings and thunder, etc., the people were terrified. They wanted Moses to mediate between them. They wanted God to speak to Moses and then Moses would speak to the people.
Mount Zion and Jerusalem represents the New Covenant through Christ who took on the terrifying judgment of God upon Himself thus giving us access to the mountain, Mount Zion. With this access, we have the privilege of living on that mounting as the church, the bride of the Lord Jesus Christ. With this privilege comes a greater responsibility than those Hebrews of the Old Testament had.
