Rosie and Adam discuss how we can be more successful in life and also how to avoid following the wrong examples. Sometimes we don’t know what to prioritize and sometimes we model off people who we think are doing it correctly, but behind the scenes they aren’t doing things as great as we thought. Oftentimes when we look at someone else’s life we’re just seeing the “trailer” for it, but when we see the whole “movie” we realize things aren’t what we thought. Often people forget to take care of themselves and don’t realize that self care is crucial to their success. There are some steps we need to take to have our lives focused in the right direction. Step 1 is to put yourself first through building your faith. Keeping your mind clear by taking care of your well being and physical health can keep you connected with your creator and maintains your ability to focus on step two and three. Step 2 is marriage. Your marriage has to come first before your children because it has a great impact on them more than on anything else. What people see or can visualize, they can recreate. So if you have a daughter, she will watch and absorb what you do or don’t do in your marriage, and then she will search for those things, bad or good, in her future relationships. Step 3 is your children. You can’t group all your children into one box because every child has different needs. It’s very important that you give each child the time that they want and need. It’s really important to get to know them and find out what they’re interested in rather than you pushing on them what you think is important for them. Step 4 is your passion or purpose. If you can do something professionally of which you are passionate and you feel like it’s your calling and you can focus all your talents and abilities on it, then that is the greatest thing that you can achieve. You can call it your career or job, but we would call it your passion or purpose. This can help you not take a job if it doesn’t align with your purpose. If you’re comfortable with sharing what you do with other people around you, then you’re on the right path. Step 5 is your community. If you can do something that has to do with your community such as giving or helping, focus there before you reach beyond. Strengthen your community before you strengthen those outside your community. You can choose to do so openly or secretly. The last step, or step 6, is contributing to a cause. There are people who do not have what we have, such as basic needs to live. So when you can give your time, money, attention, or influence, your own world will be a better place. To recap, you want to look at the very center of your life, and then move outward as you look where to improve. Start with self, then move to marriage, children, purpose/career, community, and finally an outward cause or charity.
