Adam and Rosie discuss how there is much conflict right now about capitalism and whether it is good or bad. Adam grew up in the middle class, but at 18 went into finance. He saw how hard the wealthy work and the majority of them worked really hard for what they have. For a lot of the wealthy, it wouldn’t make sense to cap their wealth because they wouldn’t be able to continue to improve their product or service. Why would anyone take the risk of starting a business if they knew their incentive to work hard would be taken away? When anyone wants to cap wealth, they’re wanting to cap the stimulation of the economy. If you starved people’s ability to create and grow, we wouldn’t have ¾ of the things that have been developed. People who make a lot of money often contribute to causes to which the government is unable to contribute. CEOs who make extremely high incomes are paid such a large wage because it needs to equal the risk they will take on.

“You think about the risk of the person that bought all the machines, employed everyone. When things go bad, the employees can just move to another job, whereas the owner and the director has taken all the risk and made all the investment… the employee gets to clock out. The business owner has to work after hours.” 7:47
