“I had a close friend who was a high level athlete, tell me before my first iron man. He said ‘Enjoy the naiveness of this moment.’ It was literally as I was walking to the start line, and he said ‘You will never feel this naive in an iron man ever again. From this moment forward, you will know exactly how much pain you will be going through.’ And it was so true. You see it in a lot of everyday athletes that they do better in their first one than necessarily in their second one because they put expectations on the second one.” 6:03
