Annie Mucheru Garza is an award-winning early childhood educator. She has been teaching for over 10 years and has been recognized as the winner of the Corpus Christi Elementary Teacher of the Year Award and nominee for the national award.
As a leader in early childhood educational technology, she provides new approaches to motivate students of all learning styles to succeed with the use of technology.
From a young age, she was aware of the importance of education, a quality instilled by her parents. Annie was born and raised with five older siblings in Nairobi, Kenya. All of her siblings graduated from various universities, and Mucheru knew that she wanted to do the same.
In 2001, she moved to Corpus Christi where she attended Del Mar College and received an Associate Degree in Business Administration before being accepted into the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi College of Business. She discovered her love for teaching while working at PowerUp.org’s Texas Techies summer program focused on technology for children ages three and up.
After this experience, she switched majors from business to education and graduated from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Education.
Annie’s distinct love of expanding young minds led her to start her own school, Little Texas Techies Academy. Starting her business and finding success in education was confirmation for her that hard work really does pay off, though she truly believes she could not have made it this far without so many important people in her life, such as her mother, brothers, sisters and all fellow amazing teachers that she has had the privilege of working with.
