The guest host for today's show is Brad Bannon. Brad runs Bannon Communications Research, a polling, message development and media firm which helps labor unions, progressive issue groups and Democratic candidates win public affairs and political campaigns. His new show, 'Deadline D.C. with Brad Bannon,' airs every Monday from 3-4pm ET.
Brad is first joined by Shawn Zeller, Deputy Editor of CQ Magazine, and host of the 'CQ on Congress' podcast. Shawn's Twitter handle is @ShawnZeller.
The two preview the final Democratic Debate before the Iowa Caucuses, which will take place on Jan. 14th and Feb. 3rd, respectively. In the wake of recent military actions between the U.S. and Iran, Brad and Shawn discuss whether foreign policy will overtake healthcare as the hot topic of the debate. They also analyze Vice President Biden being the top candidate in the Democratic primary polls among people of color, and its significance in the race to become the Democratic nominee for President.
During the second half of the show, Brad leads a political round-table with two guests who continue the discussion on the upcoming debate, the Iowa caucuses, and also analyze the role that money is still playing in choosing presidential candidates.
The two round table guests are Kimberly Scott and Mark Grimaldi.
