DÃa 9: Un deseo expreso de MarÃa
Año 1531. Ciudad de Méjico. Caminaba el indio Juan Diego por la falda de Tepeyac, una pequeña colina junto a la ciudad, al norte. De pronto, oyó que le llamaban. Volvió la cabeza y vio a una Señora bellÃsima que la miraba cariñosamente. De pies a cabeza resplandecÃa. Tras un breve silencio escuchó: Yo soy la Virgen MarÃa, Madre de Dios. Y añadió que era su deseo que Juan Diego pidiera al Obispo que levantase allà mismo, donde ellos estaban, un templo en su honor: la BasÃlica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.
Juan Diego se dirigió al obispo y, después de mucho esperar, cuando pudo hablar con él se lo contó; pero éste no le creyó. Volviendo a casa con gran desánimo se encontró de nuevo con la Virgen, la cual le dijo que siguiera insistiendo.
Después de la segunda visita, alegre porque el obispo le habÃa hecho caso, se encaminó al cerro y se lo contó a la Virgen. Al dÃa siguiente, de madrugada, el indio tuvo que ir a la ciudad en busca de un sacerdote, ya que un tÃo suyo se encontraba muy grave. No quiso acercarse al cerro para no retrasarse por si se encontraba con la Señora, porque Ésta le prometió el dÃa anterior darle una señal para entregársela al obispo. Al llegar cerca del cerro, el indio Juan Diego la vio bajar y se acercó hacia él. La Señora le dijo: -¿Qué te ocurre, hijo mÃo? ¿Adónde vas? Él le contó la enfermedad de su tÃo y la Virgen le enseñó a acogerse a su protección y a confiar en Ella, pues era su Madre. -Tu tÃo ya está recuperado, le dijo la Señora. Y a continuación le pidió: -Antes de ir a la casa del obispo, sube al cerro y recoge las rosas que allà veas. Juan Diego subió sin dudar, aunque era imposible que en la cima de aquel cerro, en el mes de diciembre pudieran florecer rosas. Al llegar arriba quedó sorprendido, pues toda la cumbre estaba llena de preciosas flores, difundiendo un olor suavÃsimo. El indio cortó todas las rosas que pudo, las recogió en su túnica, doblándola en su regazo y poniéndola en forma de bolsa. Al bajar del cerro, se las enseñó a la Virgen, que las tomó en sus manos y las volvió a dejar.
Cuando Juan Diego llegó a casa del obispo, pasó al despacho de éste y soltó la túnica. Las flores cayeron al suelo, y todos los que miraron se sorprendieron, porque en la túnica del indio estaba milagrosamente grabada la imagen de la Virgen SantÃsima, tal como está ahora en el templo de Guadalupe.
Ese era el deseo de MarÃa: un templo dedicado a Ella. Es lógico, pues esas "casas" de MarÃa son ocasión para que muchos hijos suyos vayan a buscarla. Y es verdad que la Virgen agradece que vayamos a esos templos marianos, y le visitemos, y allà hablemos más confiadamente con Ella.
Madre mÃa, en cualquier sitio puedo hablar contigo. Pero voy a procurar durante este mes ir algún dÃa, o algunos dÃas, a verte a un Santuario, Iglesia o ermita dedicado a Ti. ¡Te lo aseguro!
