About Arne Frager
For submitting music to the label: info@theplantstudiosrecords.com
For contacting him directly: arne@plantstudios.com

Arne Frager has been a recording engineer/producer and independent studio owner for 36 years in LA and the San Francisco Bay Area. This included Spectrum Studios, Mars
Studios/Hollywood, and Hollywood Central Studios in 1984-87 where a Clare
Fischer album he recorded and mixed won a Grammy Award. All three LA
studios had major hit records with major artists signed to the major record labels.

In 1985-1987 Arne was an Instructor at Los Angeles City College.
He taught the recording studio program which included a lecture 3 days/week
and teaching the 24- track studio laboratory which included three 5-hr recording
sessions weekly. Classes were typically 25 students in size. Additionally, as the first
recording engineer and studio owner over many years, Arne has taught his
assistant engineers to become recording engineers and producers. Many have
gone on to become successful in the music, TV, and film audio mixing business.

In 1987 Arne moved with his family to the San Francisco Bay Area and took
over The Plant Studios of Sausalito California in 1988. He was able to re-establish
its reputation as San Francisco's premier professional recording facility
during his 20- year ownership tenure there. Under his leadership The Plant
Studios have produced over 50 #1 hits throughout the 1990s and 2000s,
including megahits such as “Supernatural“ for Carlos Santana and “Before
These Crowded Streets” for Dave Matthews Band. Arne has also produced
many live music shows for radio, TV, and live performances. This includes the
production of the live music shows at the Sausalito Art Festival for 20 years, and
the live radio shows “Live from the Plant on KFOG”.

During his career as a recording engineer, producer, entrepreneur, and studio
owner he has designed and built several successful professional recording
studios. He has produced and/or engineered on albums for such artists as
Michael Jackson, Prince, Celine Dion, Paul McCartney, Count Basie, John Lee
Hooker, Starship, and many others during his career in the music industry. He
has recorded many large orchestral recordings as a recording engineer for Claire
Fischer, including songs on 20 albums for Prince, among others.

When Metallica recorded an album with the San Francisco Orchestra, Arne was
a supporting engineer for the recordings and mixing with Michael Kamen, the
mixing took place at Arne’s studio “The Plant Studios” in Sausalito. He has also
digitally mastered albums for “The Secret Life of Plants” by Stevie Wonder, and
several titles for Varese Sarabande Records.

The bulk of his music career has been discovering and developing new artists. He continues to produce and record singer/songwriters and bands as an independent producer and publisher for A&R Music.
