Sarah Schulman and her colleagues describe their work as turning social safety nets into trampolines. In the show, she describes her work as trying to disrupt the social welfare state. She and her team often find themselves working within the tensions of traditional approaches to structuring institutions and more iterative approaches to working. They generate insight using ethnography and other research development methods to ensure that people flourish in the work that they do.
