Moe begins today's show with his 'Moe-ment of Truth," where he talks about the crisis caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

For the remainder of the show, Moe is joined by Tim Zenk, who has worked in renewable energy development for two decades to build new technologies for difficult to decarbonize sectors like aviation.
Presently, Tim is the principal consultant at Molecule LLC. At Molecule, he focuses on the nexus of policy, finance, and technology to fight climate change.

The two discuss transitioning the energy supply of the United States from fossil fuels to renewable sources of energy.
Tim argues that the U.S. needs to do three things domestically in order to make this happen. They are as follows:

1. The U.S. needs to invest in renewable fuels, particularly renewable diesel and SAF (a biofuel used to power aircraft that has similar properties to conventional jet fuel but with a smaller carbon footprint), but really all of the energy dense renewable fuel. As Tim points out, by definition, these fuels are made locally because the feedstocks are locally derived.

2. The U.S. needs to invest in green hydrogen made from green electricity, not fossil fuels for transportation on roads, marine transportation and aviation. America also needs to build and support 100% renewable energy grids.

3. The U.S. needs to build a massive renewable electricity infrastructure to support the electrification of gas vehicles, homes, and some buildings.

Tim also says not to worry about killing coal, oil and gas, that it will happen because we do the above.

Additionally during the interview, Tim grades how he believes the Biden administration is doing with the country's energy policy.
