Real Life Horror! The Internet Is Alive and The Slenderman Mysteries
Saturday, March 24th, 2018 at 11 pm ET, Join Paranormal Now's host Alan B. Smith
as he welcomes Ken Cherry to discuss the UFO video released by the Pentagon and reported on by the NY Times in December, 2018 in relation to the 2007 – 2012 secret program: the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program.
Following Ken Cherry's report, the featured guest is cryptozoologist, ufologist and paranormal researcher Nick Redfern to discuss today's most insidious cryptid: the Slenderman. Discussing his book, The Slenderman Mysteries, Nick takes us down the rabbit hole of the most frightening kind where not only does the line between the real world and the shadow world blur, but where the borders of our very own reality are erased. The very nature and historical understanding of the Slenderman challenges our own state of existence. Slenderman was created in 2009 by Eric Knudsen when posted on the Something Awful website. So the Slenderman really is the cryptic of all cryptids because we are forced to ask, has the internet come alive enough to take our own imagination and make it a reality? Nick lays out historical evidence and science based philosophies to explain how we may no longer be the only creators on this planet. And if the Slenderman is any indication of what is to come…then we need to be prepared.

NICK REDFERN

Alan's Paranormal Cabin

I love talking about spooky tales and creepy cryptids! A good safe scare, I think, is healthy. In some strange way being scared by a story or movie can actually encourage humility as it awakens that instinct within us that says we are a part of something wholly mysterious, far from being the center of all things. However…The Slenderman. The Slenderman takes it to a entirely new level of realism beyond introspection and an entertaining mystery. It actually makes me a little superstitious – and I am not the superstitious type. Although I guess I am now. In fact, as I have read The Slenderman Mysteries book, written by Nick Redfern, I have been careful as to not ponder over it too much when I'm not actually reading. I won't even daydream or do anything that could be perceived as an invocation or invitation. And I take fairly seriously a quote from The Mothman Prophecies which Redfern refers to in his book: "When you noticed these things, they noticed that you noticed them." Now that's some creepy thinking!
While it is not exactly the most novel idea, as we often are warned about the potential consequences of opening doors to paranormal entities, there is something about the way this character puts it that really pricks the limbic portion of my brain. As I said, I enjoy exploring the paranormal world of hauntings, scary beasts and the dark unknown,
