The #1 Key to Success – Wisdom Unplugged

Wisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.

Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1225 of our trek, and it is time for our 3-minute mini trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little bit of additional content for today’s trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.

Today’s quote is from Brian Tracy, and it is, "If I had to pick the No.1 key to success, it would be...self-discipline."
The #1 Key to Success

As I have stated many times, success is not about how wealthy, powerful, or influential a person is; instead, it is the positive and lasting impact a person has on the lives of those individuals who are close to them. Regardless of how you may be measuring success, one character trait that is the #1 key to every successful person is that of self-discipline.

Self-discipline, or it could be referred to as self-control, is absolutely a requirement in order to achieve success in any sphere of life. There are seven areas of life, which are: spiritual, family, physical/health, mind/intellect, personal/social, financial, and work/career. If you desire to be successful in any or all of these areas of life, you must practice self-discipline/self-control in that area of life. There is no other single attribute that is more important if you truly desire to be successful.

You can make excuses for lack of success in any of these areas of life, but it boils down to that fact that you lack the level of self-discipline required to achieve success. So, if you desire success, are you willing to be disciplined with your time, talent, and resources in order to achieve what you desire? It all boils down to self-discipline.

Achieving success in any area of life is not really a mystery. The lack of success is a lack of self-discipline. The lack of self-discipline, many times, is based on a fear of success  You are fearful of what success will require of you. Fear is not from God. God does not desire that we fail. We are reminded of this in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline."
