Melbourne hardcore outfit Deadweight 80 return to the fold with their crushing and brutal new tune “N.J.N.P (No Justice No Peace)”.

The song not only serves as a timely reminder of the abundance of talent within this band before their performance at Kilfest in a couple of weeks but also serves to introduce new vocalist Jordy who actually wrote the song.

Drummer Milein joined HEAVY for a chat about the new song and what’s been happening in the world of Deadweight 80.

"It was actually brought to us by our new singer Jordy,” Milein explained of 'N.J.N.P'. “He had written that entire song on his own and in the band we're very open to people writing - be it a whole song or a riff, whatever - he brought that whole song to us and we thought it really had the energy we wanted to showcase him and show him as our new singer to the world so we went with that. The song lyrics and the topic of the song is really about his own personal dealing with police brutality, Vic Pol assaulting family members of his and not answering for it, and the last topic is unanswered indigenous death in custody in Australia and then going worldwide its really about police brutality against minorities everywhere."

In the full interview, Milein discusses the film clip and the fun they had filming inside the Old Kilmore Jail, the upcoming Kilfest show and the bands Deadweight 80 will be playing with, developing stage rust and how to beat it, the temptation to use graphic images in the film clip and why he chose not to, future music, the band’s plans for 2021 and more.
