Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with SUNY Professor Emeritus of Pathology, Gregory A Threatte, ’69. After Colgate, he received his medical degree from the SUNY, Upstate Medical
University in 1973. He served an internship in Medicine at Upstate, and a residency in Anatomic Pathology at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was a Resident and Chief Resident in
Clinical Pathology at the University of California, San Francisco and then a Hematology research fellow at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He was appointed to the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Pathology at Georgetown University in 1981 In 1986 he returned to Upstate Medical University as the Deputy to the President for Minority Affairs and Associate Professor, later rising to the rank of Professor and then Chair. He established the Diversity programming that led to Upstate being cited by Black Issues in Higher Education for being the 10th leading producer of African American Physicians in 1994. He has received the SUNY President’s Award for the Advancement of Affirmative Action, the SUNY President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, and numerous other teaching awards. He served for 9 years on the Board of Trustees of Colgate University.
