Tonight everyone started off right at the top with the Marvel announcement that after season 2 of Cloak and Dagger (ABC Freeform) that… there will be no more. And KJ says it is not nearly as disappointing to hear as it was that the original comic run ended.

Marvel may have demonstrated a great ability to tie the movie universe and the TV universe together in shows like Agents of SHIELD and Daredevil, but Cloak and Dagger is the exact opposite, and seems to have been a show that was targeted at the non-Marvel superhero market. Not going to be missed, and definitely not missed the same way as ShadowHunters is to this day (cry a tear Lady Archer)

On the opposite end of the spectrum though, DC’s Batwoman series is now gearing up for awesomeness! Ruby Rose is really falling into the role, and is amazing in bringing the batwoman from the comics to the screen. Episode 3 saw the dawn of the red suit, something that co-star Rachel Skarsten (Previously of DC’s short lived Birds of Prey series 2002-2003) as Alice says that the red is a reminder of their birth stone and where they come from.

Rachel Skarsten also raises some big questions in this episode as Alice. She knows things about the background of Kate Cain’s stepmother, as seen in the presentation of three playing cards with the numbers 283. As a coincidence, 283 is the issue number of Action Comics where it was first published that the Phantom Zone existed. Detective Comics 283 talks about the Omega Bomb. The first reference would be to Crisis on Infinite Earth, and the second, well that could just be another Batman reference. We may never know, but Episode 4 airs tonight just after the podcast ends.
