Robert Curry first introduced me to Thomas Reid a couple of years ago. I've always been a proponent of common sense (it seems almost nonsensical having to say that). I used to argue with my professors in college whose stance is that common sense doesn't exist. It's common sense that made American exceptionalism possible. Adam Smith, a student of Reid, wrote his most significant work, based I believe, on Reid's influence -- not the Wealth of Nations, but the Theory of Moral Sentiments. The first doesn't work without the latter as we are now discovering.
