Octubre 16: En Tus manos está mi futuro.

Salmos 31:5-24 RVA2015:
En tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu; tú me has redimido, oh SEÑOR, Dios de verdad. Aborrezco a los que esperan en los ídolos vanos, pero yo en el SEÑOR he confiado. Me gozaré y alegraré en tu misericordia porque has visto mi aflicción. Has conocido mi alma en las angustias y no me entregaste en mano del enemigo. Hiciste que mis pies se posasen en lugar espacioso. Ten misericordia de mí, oh SEÑOR, porque estoy en angustia. Mis ojos, mi alma y mis entrañas se han debilitado por el pesar. Porque mi vida se va gastando de dolor, y mis años de suspirar. Mi fuerza me falla a causa de mi iniquidad, y mis huesos se han debilitado. Para todos mis enemigos he sido objeto de oprobio. He sido objeto de horror para mis vecinos, y de miedo para mis conocidos. Los que me veían huían de mí. He sido olvidado en sus corazones como un muerto; he venido a ser como un objeto inútil. Porque he oído la calumnia de muchos; el terror está por todas partes, mientras traman unidos contra mí y planean quitarme la vida. Pero yo he confiado en ti, oh SEÑOR. He dicho: “Tú eres mi Dios; en tus manos están mis tiempos”. Líbrame de la mano de mis enemigos y de mis perseguidores. Haz resplandecer tu rostro sobre tu siervo; sálvame por tu misericordia. Oh SEÑOR, no sea yo avergonzado ya que te he invocado. Sean avergonzados los impíos; desciendan en silencio al Seol. Enmudezcan los labios mentirosos que hablan insolencias contra el justo con soberbia y desprecio.
¡Cuán grande es la bondad que has guardado para los que te temen, que has obrado para los que en ti se refugian contra los hijos del hombre! En el refugio de tu presencia los esconderás de la conspiración del hombre.
En un tabernáculo los guardarás de las contiendas de la lengua.
¡Bendito sea el SEÑOR! Porque ha hecho maravillosa su misericordia para conmigo en ciudad fortificada. En mi apresuramiento yo dije: “¡Cortado soy de tu presencia!”. Pero cuando clamé a ti oíste la voz de mis ruegos. Amen al SEÑOR, todos ustedes sus santos. A los fieles guarda el SEÑOR, pero retribuye en abundancia al que actúa con soberbia. Esfuércense, todos ustedes los que esperan en el SEÑOR, y tome aliento su corazón.


Este salmo es uno de los llamados mesiánicos. Otro salmo que el salmista escribe en un momento de confusión y dolor pero que a la vez es la descripción de la misma situación adversa que el Mesías experimentó cuando fue abandonado por sus amigos, fue juzgado falsamente y fue ultrajado.
David sentía que ya no tenía más fuerzas, que se estaba desvaneciendo por tanta opresión y también por el abandono de sus amigos; sin embargo, él nunca perdió la fe en el Señor, pues era su única esperanza.
Es por eso que escuchamos o leemos la exclamación de David cuando dice en el verso 13: "En Tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu"; que viene a ser la misma declaración que Jesús hizo en la cruz del calvario.
En este recuento de la experiencia de David, él hizo una declaración de fe y esperanza, sabiendo que su misma vida no dependía de él sino del Señor, por eso dice en el verso 14 y 15: “Tú eres mi Dios; en Tus manos están mis tiempos”.
Sabiendo que David se encontraba confundido y a punto de desfallecer, él sacó fuerzas para hacer firme su convicción de que su futuro vendría de las manos del Señor.
Lo poco que le quedaba a David de existencia, le atribuía al Señor todas sus bondades y misericordias. Que su vida estaba escondida en Dios, que estaba escrito en la palma de Su mano, que no importaba lo que estaba pasando, ¡la última palabra la tenía el Señor y no Satanás!
Cuando ya no tengas fuerzas para mirar hacia el horizonte y mirar el camino que Dios te tiene preparado, simplemente di: "¡Señor, en Tus manos está mi futuro!”
En la desesperación David confesó haberse apresurado para juzgar por lo que estaba pasando y pensando que ya todo estaba terminado; pero cuando se arrodilló y clamó a Dios, allí mismo se dio cuenta que Dios todavía tiene planes con cada uno de nosotros.

Considera:
¿Has sentido que las fuerzas se te acaban?
¿Has sentido la compañía de Dios y sus ángeles cuando has orado al Señor en la desesperación?

October 16: My future is in your hands

Psalm 31:5-24:
Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O Lord God of truth. I have hated those who regard useless idols; but I trust in the Lord. I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy, for You have considered my trouble;
You have known my soul in adversities, and have not shut me up into the hand of the enemy; You have set my feet in a wide place. Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am in trouble; my eye wastes away with grief, yes, my soul and my body! For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away. I am a reproach among all my enemies, but especially among my neighbors, and am repulsive to my acquaintances; those who see me outside flee from me. I am forgotten like a dead man, out of mind; I am like a broken vessel. For I hear the slander of many; fear is on every side; while they take counsel together against me, they scheme to take away my life. But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in Your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me. Make Your face shine upon Your servant; save me for Your mercies’ sake. Do not let me be ashamed, O Lord, for I have called upon You; let the wicked be ashamed; let them be silent in the grave. Let the lying lips be put to silence, which speak insolent things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear You, which You have prepared for those who trust in You in the presence of the sons of men! You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
Blessed be the Lord, for He has shown me His marvelous kindness in a strong city! For I said in my haste, “I am cut off from before Your eyes”; nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications when I cried out to You.
Oh, love the Lord, all you His saints! For the Lord preserves the faithful, and fully repays the proud person. Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord.


This psalm is one of the called messianic ones. Another psalm that the psalmist writes in a moment of confusion and pain but that at the same time is the description of the same adverse situation that the Messiah experienced when He was abandoned by His friends, He was falsely judged and He was outraged.
David felt that he no longer had any strength, that he was fading from so much oppression and also from the abandonment of his friends; however, he never lost faith in the Lord, for He was his only hope.
That is why we hear and read David's exclamation when he says in verse 13: "Into Your hands I commend my spirit"; which is the same statement that Jesus made on Calvary's cross.
In this account of David's experience, he made a declaration of faith and hope, knowing that his very life did not depend on him but on the Lord, that is why he says in verse 14 and 15: “You are my God. My times are in Your hands”.
Knowing that David was confused and on the verge of fainting, he drew strength to make his conviction firm that his future would come from the hands of the Lord.
The little that David had left of existence, he attributed to the Lord all His goodness and mercies. That his life was hidden in God, that it was written on the palm of His hand, that no matter what was happening, the Lord had the last word and not Satan!
When you no longer have the strength to look towards the horizon and look at the path that God has prepared for you, simply say: "Lord, my future is in Your hands!"
In desperation David confessed to having rushed to judge by what was happening and thinking that everything was finished, but when he bent his knees and cried out to God, right there he realized that God still has plans with each of us.

Have you felt that your strength is running out?
Have you felt the company of God and His angels when you prayed to the Lord in desperation?
