White privilege, or white skin privilege, is the societal privilege that benefits white people over non-white people in some societies, particularly if they are otherwise under the same social, political, or economic circumstances. With roots in European colonialism and imperialism, and the Atlantic slave trade, white privilege has developed in circumstances that have broadly sought to protect white racial privileges, various national citizenships and other rights or special benefits.
Handicap/Disability Prejudice - Prejudice towards disabled people does thankfully seem to be less ingrained in people’s minds than other kinds of prejudice and discrimination. However, disabled people often have to contend with discrimination and prejudice on the basis of places not being equipped for their needs rather than because people are outwardly showing prejudice towards disabled people. In addition, disabled people also may have to contend with a form of pity, often misplaced, which may masquerade as concern but can often be as prejudiced as outright discrimination. All people deal with prejudice (a negative attitude towards others based on a prejudgment about those individuals based on little prior knowledge or experience). While some people are victims of prejudice, all are susceptible to developing prejudices against others. Most people hold negative attitudes either consciously or subconsciously toward persons with disabilities. These negative attitudes lead to prejudice and discrimination.
