MESSAGE NOTES:

The difference between being the Influence vs the influenced comes down to your "D".

Your Desire
James 1: 14,15
14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

Psalm 27:4
One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

Psalm 37:7
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

3 Questions that we should be asking ourselves
Where are you?
Where do you want to go?
How will you get there?

3 Levels of Leadership

No Focus
Survival – Only grow to the size of your problems – Just getting through the day.
Results are not long lasting

Human Focus
Success – Growing beyond your needs – Creates opportunities, makes you feel good
People respond to you, and you create fruit.
What happens to you

God’s Focus
Significance – Growing to impact others – Kingdom focused
What happens through you

The Emperors Club (Movie) –
Teachers Plaque – He Conquered, He Conquered, He Conquered
“Not the people who conquer someone but the people who make a contribution to someone”

Genesis 13:1-18
8 So Abram said to Lot, Let there be no strife, I beg of you, between you and me, or between your
herdsmen and my herdsmen, for we are relatives.
9 Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself, I beg of you, from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if you choose the right hand, then I will go to the left.
10 And Lot looked and saw that everywhere the Jordan Valley was well watered. Before the Lord
destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, [it was all] like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar. 11 Then Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley and [he] traveled east. So they separated. 12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the [Jordan] Valley and moved his tent as far as Sodom and dwelt there. 13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and exceedingly great sinners against the Lord. 14 The Lord said to Abram after Lot had left him, Lift up now your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward; 15 For all the land which you see I will give to you and to your posterity forever.
16 And I will make your descendants like the dust of the earth, so that if a man could count the dust of the earth, then could your descendants also be counted. 17 Arise, walk through the land, the length of it and the breadth of it, for I will give it to you. 18 Then Abram moved his tent and came and dwelt among the oaks or terebinths of Mamre, which are
at Hebron, and built there an altar to the Lord.

Abraham - The Influence
Led by Peace
Does not move outside of God
Walks in God’s Purpose for his life instead of his own
Genesis 14
Verses 17 -23
17 Then after Abram’s return from the defeat (slaughter) of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley). 18 [a]Melchizedek king of Salem (ancient Jerusalem) brought out bread and wine [for them]; he was the priest of [b]God Most High. 19And Melchizedek blessed Abram and said, “Blessed (joyful, favored) be Abram by God Most High,
Creator and Possessor of heaven and earth; 20 And blessed, praised, and glorified be God Most High, Who has given your enemies into your hand.” And Abram gave him a tenth of all [the treasure he had taken in battle]. 21 The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the people and keep the goods (spoils of battle) for yourself.” 22 But Abram said to the king of
Sodom, “I have raised my hand and sworn an oath to the Lord God Most High, the Creator and Possessor of heaven and earth, 23 that I would not take anything that is yours, from a thread to a sandal strap, so you could not say, ‘I [the King of Sodom] have made Abram rich.’

Genesis 15:1
After these things, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram, I am your [a]Shield, your abundant compensation, and your reward shall be exceedingly great.

Lot – The Influenced
Led by Natural Prosperity
Moves according to his own desires & gratifications
Walks according to his own purpose
Being Spirit led moves you from Self Gratification to Gold Glorification

Genesis 18
23 And Abraham came close and said, Will You destroy the righteous (those upright and in right standing with God) together with the wicked? 24 Suppose there are in the city fifty righteous; will You destroy the place and not spare it for [the sake of] the fifty righteous in it? 25 Far be it from You to do such a thing—to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as do
the wicked! Far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth execute judgment and do righteously?

Lot’s Influence
26And the Lord said, If I find in the city of Sodom fifty righteous (upright and in right standing with God), I will spare the whole place for their sake. 27Abraham answered, Behold now, I who am but dust and ashes have taken upon myself to speak to the Lord. His city 28 If five of the fifty righteous should be lacking—will You destroy the whole city for lack of five? He said, If I
find forty-five, I will not destroy it.

His Ministry
29And [Abraham] spoke to Him yet again, and said, Suppose [only] forty shall be found there. And He said, I will not do it for forty’s sake.

His Friends
30 Then [Abraham] said to Him, Oh, let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak [again]. Suppose [only] thirty shall be found there. And He answered, I will not do it if I find thirty there.

His Household (Servants & Caretakers)
31And [Abraham] said, Behold now, I have taken upon myself to speak [again] to the Lord. Suppose [only] twenty shall be found there. And [the Lord] replied, I will not destroy it for twenty’s sake.

His Family
32And he said, Oh, let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak again only this once. Suppose ten [righteous people] shall be found there. And [the Lord] said, I will not destroy it for ten’s sake.
33And the Lord went His way when He had finished speaking with Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.
