Liked this subject and album Different Kind of Truth. Start with the negative reviews.. Agree that this was not marketed correctly, however we all know how the industry has changed and all internet accessed where you can down load one song etc, limited rock radio stations and most of those are classic rock that do not play new music, popular AmIdol type music is the main stream, etc. The decision to release Tattoo as the 1st single was ok based that it was a catchy light rock type song to get radio play. And of course the criticism that some of the songs were reworked tracks that they had in their library. If we are talking about lower record sales I would have to say that radio stations do not play new rock songs, and people can buy one song on the internet and not the entire album. One minor point, I like the name but I think the long title may have something to do with the marketing of the album.
Completely agree that this album is fukin great, long time coming, stands with their greatest, VH1, II, Fairwaring, 1984! (no hag era of course). Wish they played more from this album on tour, my favorites are Honeybaby.., As Is, Outta Space... I know they were warming up to As Is in 2012 preconcert but it never surfaced on the 2015 tour? I agree and had no problem that they reworked older tracks as most musicians do, and maybe after 20 years it was a method to getting back to their true roots of the true VH with lead DLR.
Over all this is a good pod cast, I would like to suggest to the Dave's that they keep to the subject a little more because when they got around to the reviewing the songs they seemed to race through it. Otherwise Well done.
