Are you involved in the community? Do you have a special connection with the people who live and work in your town or neighborhood? If you get involved in your community, then you have the opportunity to meet business people before you have a need for their services.

There are many businesses in Vancouver that take part in community events. For example, you could meet the staff of a funeral chapel and learn about what they offer before you have a reason to call them.

If you want to know more about community involvement of businesses, then listen to this episode of Forever in their Hearts, where host Erik Reynolds talks with Valerie Martell, Director of Operations for Martin Brothers Funeral Services about how they get involved in Vancouver and the surrounding communities.

Businesses that are involved in their community have stronger ties to the residents who live there. The involvement creates mutually beneficial relationships between the companies and the customers.

Taking Part in Events in Your Community

The episode kicks off with Valerie sharing some of the things she likes about Vancouver. She also talks about some of the community-wide events that Martin Brothers participates in throughout the year.

Most people wouldn’t think of a funeral parlor participating in a community-wide festival. You may be surprised, however at how many in the community are already familiar with this Vancouver funeral chapel staff.

If you are not involved in your community, then you are missing out on an opportunity to meet those who work in roles otherwise reserved for special occasions, such as a memorial service.

Information Sessions for Community Citizens

Next Valerie turns to the topic of information sessions, a way that Martin Brothers keeps in touch with a wide range of community groups. During the podcast she also discusses answers to these questions:

- What kind of information sessions does Martin Brothers offer?
- Who can benefit from the information shared in these sessions?
- Is there a cost attached to this service from the funeral home?

Now ask yourself these two questions: Do I want to learn more about the services a funeral home offers to the living? Could I benefit from a Martin Brothers information session? If you answered “Yes” to either or both, then please share your thoughts in the comments area below.

How to Schedule a Funeral Home Information Session

Next Valerie explains how listeners can get someone from Martin Brothers Funeral Home in Vancouver to come out and talk to them, whether it is their family or a community group.

She goes over some of the different topics for the sessions, which range from the details about planning a memorial service to subjects that are very loosely related to the idea of funeral at all.

When you drive past a funeral chapel in your community, their involvement with the citizens is probably not the first thing that comes to mind. What’s stopping you from learning what Martin Brothers has to offer to the citizens of Vancouver?

The episode wraps up with Valerie sharing some final thoughts about the funeral home’s community involvement.
