Nei commenti degli expat italiani in Australia c'è tutto il dramma dell'essere di fatto rinchiusi in Australia: chi è dentro non può uscire se non per motivi compassionevoli (difficili da dimostrare) e chi è fuori non può più rientrare. Non voglio nemmeno cominciare a immaginare come mi sentirei io se mi trovassi in quella situazione. Coraggio amici, coraggio.

Quando hai vissuto più della metà della tua vita fuori all'estero, lontano, anche quando rientri ti senti sempre un po' expat come ci chiamiamo noi, e per questo continuo a frequentare le pagine degli expat, sia degli expat italiani in Australia, sia di quelli stranieri a Cagliari, nella città dove vivo adesso, e ieri sfogliando le pagine guardavo un po' i post degli expat italiani in Australia e mi è venuta una stretta forte-forte al cuore perché con la situazione adesso che c'è, del CODIV, chi è in Australia non può uscire, chi è in Australia non può lasciare l'Australia, può lasciarla solo per motivi compassionevoli molto difficili, molto difficili da comprovare, e una volta usciti non si può rientrare. Questo vale sia per i residenti permanenti che per i cittadini australiani. Sono le nuove regole del governo appunto per contrastare la nuova ondata di COVID, anche se poi leggendo i numeri mi pare che a Melbourne abbiano decretato il lockdown dopo otto casi, quindi molti, molti, molti meno rispetto a quelli che stanno verificando da noi dove ancora tutto è aperto, però non è di questo che voglio parlare, mi ha colpito moltissimo, mi sono subito immedesimata, ho pensato ai miei amici che abitano lì ai miei amici italiani, tra l'altro anche amici australiani qui a Cagliari che non possono tornare a casa, hanno la famiglia in Australia e non possono tornare perché sanno che anzitutto sarebbe molto, molto, molto, molto difficile entrare, e comunque poi non potrebbero più non potrebbero più uscire. Ho provato a immedesimarsi, e a provare cosa, come mi sarei sentita se adesso anch'io fossi, se mi fossi ancora trovato in Australia. Tra i messaggi che leggevo c'erano poi tanti che si lamentavano, uno mi ha colpito diceva, ah, io sono qua dagli anni '90 se avessi ucciso qualcuno ormai la pena l'avrei scontata sarei potuto andare via, oppure altri che dicevano ah sì è vero che quando guadagni di più però la vita costa tanto. Insomma, i soliti discorsi che conosco molto bene perché avendo vissuto lì... niente me mi sono sentita fare attorno molto spesso. È un'immagine triste, un'immagine depressa, è un'immagine tristissima perché una cosa è essere isolati in Europa, dove comunque se all'interno di una nazione, di un continente diverso, se sei isolato in Australia, l'Australia è già anche quando ci sono i collegamenti è un posto isolatissimo, secondo me si soffre di più, sicuramente si soffre di più se poi tutta la tua famiglia è da un'altra parte. This applies to both permanent residents and Australian citizens. These are the government rules to counter the new wave of COVID, even if reading the numbers, in Melbourne they have decreed the lockdown after, I think just eight cases, which is much, much, much fewer than those that are being counted by us where everything is still open, but this is not what I want to talk about. This has deeply shocked me, I immediately identified with them, I thought of my friends who live there, my Italian friends, and I also have Australian friends here in Cagliari who cannot go home, they have their family in Australia and they can't go back because they know that first of all it would be very, very, very, very difficult to get in, and anyway they couldn't get out anymore.
