L'Australia è in controtendenza stagionale anche con l'andamento del COVID: mentre noi stiamo riprendendo a respirare, gli amici di Melbourne hanno iniziato il loro quarto lockdown, mentre appena qualche mese fa guardavo con nostalgia le loro foto felici con scene di vita normale. Un'altalena che spero riesca ad assestarsi presto, così che l'unica controtendenza tra Italia e Australia riprenda ad essere quella delle stagioni metereologiche. Uff, che voglia di venire a trovarvi!

L'Italia e l'Australia sono in controtendenza stagionale, quando qui in Italia è estate, lì è inverno, e in controtendenza è stato anche tutto il periodo del covid, quando qui era appena iniziato il lockdown, in Australia c'erano le prime avvisaglie, però proprio come avevamo fatto qua in Italia, si pensava che non sarebbe esploso. Ricordo in particolare un episodio, noi eravamo appena entrati nel lockdown duro duro duro duro, quello di marzo, aprile, e una mia amica in Australia mi aveva detto il mio capo vuole che io vado a lavorare, ma io non voglio andare, e io le avevo detto non andare, fregatene, guarda che la salute è più importante del lavoro, e lei mi aveva detto Cristina le tue parole mi hanno dato coraggio e in effetti non sono andata e mi sento molto meglio anche per proteggere me e la mia famiglia, e poi di lì a pochi giorni, penso uno, due giorni, anche l'Australia aveva messo in atto delle misure d'emergenza. Poi c'è stata l'estate in Australia, dopo un brutto periodo. Io ricordo che noi eravamo invece in pieno inverno ed eravamo al secondo o al terzo lockdown, non me lo ricordo più, e vedevo le foto dei miei amici in Australia, senza mascherina, compleanni, mentre mio figlio ha fatto i 17 e anche i 18 anni festeggiati in locktown, li guardavo con invidia, felice però per loro che avessero superato quell'emergenza. Adesso che noi in Italia ci avviamo verso una riapertura, ancora usiamo le mascherine, però lo sappiamo tutti, ci sentiamo un po' più liberi, le vittime in Italia ieri guardavo per caso, non lo faccio mai, però guardavo le statistiche e meno di 100 decessi in un giorno, ricordo quando i decessi erano 800, 900, quindi diciamo che le cose stanno migliorando. E invece i miei amici di Melbourne, dello stato del Vittoria, sono di nuovo in locktown. Penso che sia il loro quarto lockdown e diceva un mio amico mi diceva ogni volta è più difficile e me lo immagino perché anche qua ogni volta è stata più difficile, è stata... se il primo locktown c'era ancora quel senso di meraviglia, quel senso di oddio una cosa mai fatta prima, a ogni successivo locktown diventa più difficile, diventa poi anche più difficile crederci che le cose andranno meglio. Però (ne approfitto che tradurrò questo anche in inglese) ragazzi e ragazze, vi assicuro che andrà meglio, stringete i denti e poi ne usciamo tutti insieme. Spero presto, non il prossimo anno, forse tra 2 anni finalmente di potervi venire a trovare e riabbracciare tutti. Vi voglio bene.

I remember that we were in the middle of Winter instead, and we were at our second or third lockdown, I don't remember it anymore, and I saw the photos of my friends in Australia, without face-mask, birthdays, while my son celebrated his 17th and even 18th b’day in lockdown, I looked at them with envy, but happy for them that they had overcome that emergency.
