Is space something you need, especially in your marriage? As two become one, you are still two individuals with unique ideas and goals. Make space to love deeper and richer. Let's just say this. And at times, it's easy to feel suffocated by our partnership, not because we don't love our spouses. More so that we aren't given the wings to fly for our dreams. Now to some, this whole thing of "space" might make people uncomfortable, or say that this is not what marriage is supposed to be. However, if you want an incredible relationship that can withstand the storms that will come knocking on your door, you have to be willing to support your spouse in his/her dreams. That means when you say "I do," it's not just about you. You both have chosen to do life together. But be real, there is some part of your life that your spouse does not understand your interest or drive. That doesn't make your spouse a bad spouse.  It creates a realistic and honest relationship. Plus, it sets the tone of how to honor each other not just by what your wedding vows say, but by your everyday words and actions. The dreams and goals of each of you deserve to be honored. Support instead of strangle. The K.I.S.S. ~ Support instead of strangle! Now, this is not something that is set in stone. You need to do some deep thought-provoking work to understand your needs prior to what you want to express to your spouse. And if you are one who is not married yet, I would highly recommend having some of these conversations prior to saying "I do." So how can you ask for support when it comes to making space for you and your dreams, purpose, and passion.

1. Know what you need first. You cannot ask your spouse to give you space if you do not know or comprehend for yourself what that looks like. So be honest. Look at what you are going after and have these thought-provoking conversations with yourself.
2. Divide and conquer. With the season you are in, how would you want that "space" divided amongst your everyday responsibilities? Because you know what is happening currently. So, therefore, you would be able to make recommendations on how to divide and conquer. But remember, there are two who became one. Be sure you acknowledge what your spouse needs too.
3. Create your now. Here is where you get to set up your space and go after your goals and dreams leaving the excuses behind.

Partners can support each other. However, what gets in the way is a lack of communication and more assumptions. That will only get you into trouble. When you are creating your "space", be sure not to hog everything and leave no time for the relationship. You still need to work on your relationship.
