There are some days I think I'm doing it so well, but other days I wish I could pretend they didn't happen. Love does not come easy. It's a choice every day. In order to love well, especially your spouse, you get to choose to participate in serving your spouse. However, expectations can get in the way, especially if they are self-centered. Believe it or not, we are selfish beings. But we don't have to be.  You can be more when you choose differently. But that's it.  What you are expecting, you will get whether that's getting for yourself or giving it for your spouse. The K.I.S.S. ~ Give everything! You can spin it one way or another; get or give.  Don't give just to take. Give because you love. Love is not defined by your selfish moves, but by your selfless actions and unconditional respect. If you are looking to find a way to pat yourself on the back all the time, that's what you will find. But in doing so, you run the risk of losing who you said "I do" to. For better or worse is not just for you, but directed towards you as one; a couple. Be careful not to throw yourself a rope of excuses. You have to choose to overcome the easy way out and be intentional about what you are expecting. Give everything.  Don't hold back, because your spouse can recognize when you are hiding a part of yourself. The lesson in giving everything is understanding that as a committed partner, you have to be ambitious. Purposeful -- Plan what matters. Intentional -- Prepare what you can't improv. You are creating a new rhythm or redefining it. Unshakeable -- Persevere when it's not easy.  Love is to be given away. Are you doing that in your marriage? Are you giving instead of getting or taking? CHALLENGE: Look at where you are and be honest with yourself. Then, have the hard conversation with your spouse as to how you are being received.
