Brazos County commissioners at this week's meeting approved a $232,000 dollar contract to design and administer the construction of an expanded food service area at the adult detention center.
Administrator Wayne Dicky says space will be added to the existing kitchen...which was designed to serve 500 inmates, but has grown to a capacity of just under 1,100.
Dicky says the design will allow food service to continue through the construction process, by moving operations to the new space before starting the remodel of the current space.
The design process is expected to take five to seven months to complete.
