The last Bryan city council meeting addressed two items regarding the future of mobile and other manufactured homes.

While most of the time was spent on restricting future placements, later in the meeting the council approved another set of planning and zoning commission recommendations...that among other things set the maximum age of a used home at five years.

Mike Southerland volunteered to second his motion...which died...to raise the maximum age to 15 years. That drew laughter and a thanks to Southerland from Mayor Andrew Nelson for "keeping levity on such a long night."

The rest of the council voted to set the maximum age at five years.

The new regulations also requires city inspection of previously occupied manufactured homes before the structure can be moved inside the city limits...unless the inspection is done by someone licensed by the state.
