And North Texas and the nation grew increasingly anxious about any hint of the illness.At 7:51 a.m., Duncan became the first person to die of Ebola on American soil, after he spent 10 days in isolation at Texas Health Presbyterian of Dallas. A Dallas County sheriff’s deputy who had been briefly inside the Vickery Meadow apartment where Duncan stayed before he was hospitalized. The deputy had come down with a stomachache.
