The internet as a demoratic model for universal access or a plaform for the few.Today we have social media that is own by powerful corporations as Google,Facebook,Comcast and You Tube. Julius Genachowski on proposed AT&T/T-Mobile merger, as well as FCC’s ruling in December on network neutrality. Network neutrality is the idea that Internet providers allow all content providers equal access to networks(edited version). What is needed is a Fairness Doctrine for the internet. (The Fairness Doctrine was a policy of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), introduced in 1949, that required the holders of broadcast licenses to both present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was, in the Commission's view, honest, equitable and balanced.)
