The prophecy of scripture is that of God's Word. The character of God's Word is sure and reliable. The Church have that of God's written Word by which to judge the personal prophecies of others who claim to receive 'directly' from God (Deut. 29:29; Rev. 22:18-19). Whenever the church "substitute" God's Word for such "inward" voice of the spirit are traveling down the dark path of mysticism. The apostle Paul warns against mysticism in the church today (Col. 2:18, 19).
