There is a joy in hearing God's Word. Quite unfortunately that there are many Christians today who prefer hearing some "inward" voice of the spirit outside the boundaries of God's Word by which the apostle Paul warns against mysticism in the Church today (Col. 2:18, 19). Whenever the Church "substitute" God's Word for what is revelatory is traveling down a sloppery slop of spiritual and moral deterioration by which the remedy of apostasy is God's judgment (2 Tim. 2:17-18; 1 Tim. 4:1, Jude 8-10).
