The Church have greatly misunderstood the doctrine of salvation. Salvation is a work of God on behalf of man; not man saving himself. Many Charismatics and Pentecostal believers believe that works (i.e. "speaking in tongues") is apart of the believer's salvation experience (Gal. 3:1, 2-4). The Pentecostal experience is not apart of the cross of Christ nor will it ever be (Jn. 3:16, 17). The purpose by which Christ came into the world is to die for the sins of the world; not works of grace added. For any particular denomination, sect, cult that add works to salvation is a false gospel nor does it reflect that of the true nature and character of the glorious gospel of Christ (Rom. 1:16).
