Four years ago in May, I was on my deathbed. I’d seen 14 specialists in two years, and no one could find the root cause of my health issues.

Then a doctor asked me to think through the timeline, and I put two and two together. My symptoms began right after I swapped out my old, leaking breast implants for new-and-improved ones.

And I knew intuitively, in that moment, it’s your implants. Get them out.

I joined a Facebook group on breast implant illness (otherwise known as BII) to learn more, and the first post I saw was written by Talia Maddock.

Talia is a breast implant illness survivor and health advocate. In addition to running a successful interior design business, she works in the realm of preventative diagnostics, promoting the PULS Cardiac Test, a simple blood test that determines your risk for heart attack or stroke.

On this episode of The Leadership Formula, Talia shares her experience with BII, describing the physical symptoms she experienced and explaining why she had to endure not one but two explant surgeries to fully restore her health.

We explore the emotional side of explant surgery, discussing the desire to perfect and control that inspires women to get implants and how we are learning to appreciate our bodies now—and really listen when our intuition tells us something’s wrong.

Listen in for Talia’s go-to resources for navigating breast implant illness and learn the first steps to take if you are considering breast implant removal surgery.
